Community Fund

The provision of significant local community benefits is central to Chelwood Community Energy’s corporate vision. Chelwood Community Energy established a charitable trust, Chelwood Community Fund, as a means of distributing its surplus income for the benefit of the local community. Payments to the Community Fund are recommended by the Directors and approved at the Annual General Meeting.

Surplus funds from CCE are transferred to the Community Fund. The Community Fund has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for approving applications for grants from organisations and individuals in Chelwood and the surrounding parishes.

Grants can only be made to applications that are deemed to be charitable in nature.

Details of the trust can be found on the Charity Commission web site, register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk. The Community Fund is administered by a Board of Trustees and is entirely separate from the Community Energy company. The Community Fund has so far received £100,000 that has been used to support a variety of local charitable good causes. The Chelwood Community Fund page on the village web site www.chelwood-village.co.uk contains guidelines on grant applications.
